Last year my YouTube algorithm pointed me to Motion City Soundtrack’s video for She is Afraid. I adored the grungy sound and poppy hooks. They released The Same Old Wonderful Wasted World in September 2025. What a cracking title.

I didn’t know much about the band. I still don’t. I had a few of their tracks liked in my catalogue. I assume their most popular is Everything Is Alright. What I do know is it’s honest raw pop punk. A touch of emo, a touch of indie.

The album grabbed me. The beautiful opening track and the thumping beats throughout the piece make it great. Those poppy hooks crop up all the time and they’re a work of art.

I’m glad to have discovered this band.
